Emergency Evacuation

Residents evacuated to Kwajalein after radiation sickness appeared.

1957

Return to Rongelap

Families were told the islands were safe and encouraged to return.

1985

Second Evacuation

Community evacuation supported by Greenpeace to Mejato Island.
